Year 4’s Creature Teachers

On Wednesday 18th April, Year 4 had a fantastic visit from some experts on animals.

There were lots of different animals and insects for the Year 4 children to meet and even hold!

Some animals were invertebrates, and some were vertebrates.

(Invertebrates mean that they don’t have a backbone!)

The animals that came to visit were:

  • Millipedes
  • Stick insects
  • Slithery, slimy snakes
  • A ferret
  • A barn owl

And there was also some shedded snake skin!

This was a very exciting, educational experience because all of the children had the chance to hold all of the animals and insects. If you were lucky, some children from each class got to hold the brown barn owl!

Take a look at the pictures below:

As part of their topic on animals and their habitats, Year 4 also went into the Coppice on an invertebrate hunt! Can you remember what invertebrate means? The answer is in this blog!

  1. It was fun when I was in Year 4. It was an exciting experience for all of us and we enjoyed it, and we had a chinchilla come to visit us too! It was an interesting time for everyone 🙂
